Hands-on Educational club
These clubs are created to support learning about rainforests, conservation and exotic animals of the jungle age 6 +.
The Jungle Hut clubs provides home educated children an insightful and fun introduction and understanding of the importance of the exotic animals and their habitats.
The next session is upon us and we are now taking bookings for our Home Ed club.
This next term at The Jungle Hut we are starting a brand new journey and venture with our Home Education sessions and we are so super excited!
We are bringing the amazing CREST awards here!
CREST Awards are managed by the British Science Association and is the UKs only nationally recognised scheme for student-led project work in the STEM subjects.
CREST is respected and recognised by universities and employers and enhances students future UCAS personal statements. So if applying in the future for university, for an apprenticeship or for a job, you can use your CREST award to enhance your application as the CREST Awards are a well-regarded, high quality and tangible recognition of success.
CREST awards can also be used in conjunction with other activities and schemes your children may do now or in the future such as Duke of Edinburgh, Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) and the Big Bang Competitions.
There are different levels of CREST Award from ‘Star’, ‘Discovery’, ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Gold’.
We’ll be starting our awards journey here at The Jungle Hut with the children achieving their ‘Discovery Award’.
The children will work collaboratively on a 5 hour project in groups. During the project they will use a CREST Discovery Passport to record their work.
Afterwards the groups will communicate their findings as a group presentation and be awards their CREST Award Certificates by Darren.
The projects they can choose from include, for example,
-
Palm Oil - how the food on your plate impacts the planets rainforests and what can be done to change this.
-
Cities being the biggest causes of climate change and creating sustainable greener areas.
Children will assign roles to each other, decide on a STEM challenge, research, design, make, test their investigations, record their results, and share their presentations.
The Discovery Award must cover 5 hours of work which makes it perfect for our 5 week term with little animal handling thrown in too!
We are very excited to give your children the opportunity to achieve one of these CREST Award levels and give them a recognised STEM Certificate from the British Science Association to be proud of!
We have a highly engaging, educational and enriching programme for the next 5 week workshop,
All our sessions involve hands-on interaction with our animal ambassadors (including snakes, lizards, monitors and amphibians) under the careful supervision of our dedicated Jungle Hut team. At times we also include educational craft activities in the sessions and children create their own work folder to take home once the 5 weeks is over.

Any questions please message us.
Book via the tab below and we look forward to a new term and lots of fun!

PLEASE NOTE:
Due to the rising running costs we are experiencing here, plus the fees we need to pay for each child to achieve these awards, our Home Education Sessions will be rising by £1 per week per child from £40 to £45 for the 5 week term.
We’ve tried to hold off rising the cost but our overheads are extremely high now so we are needing to increase prices to keep going!
We really hope you continue to support us as we do absolutely love holding our `Home Ed groups.

This is recommended as a Drop off and Pick up session
NEW FOR 2023:
We ask that our session are a drop off and pick up but we are hoping the tearoom facing the jungle hut will be back open by the time this new term starts so you will be more than welcome to to get a rest and enjoy an hour an half with a coffee and a cake but if it's not back open we have a small jungle themed seating area within the jungle hut for a maximum of 8 adults. We also offer tea, coffee and cold drinks for a small charge.
