Welcome to the Jungle Hut's Next Home Ed
5-Week Term, starting on January 17th, 2024! This exciting term will delve deep into the fascinating world of Zoology Part 2, focusing on the welfare of our animal inhabitants.
Throughout the term, each student will step into the shoes of a dedicated zookeeper, responsible for the care and well-being of one of our remarkable reptile residents.
The cornerstone of this term is the exploration of the Animal Welfare Act, emphasising the crucial five welfare needs that all animal establishments and pet owners must adhere to.
Students will gain hands-on experience and knowledge as they navigate the responsibilities of ensuring their chosen reptile thrives under their care.
Every student will receive their own Zoo Keeper Record Book, a comprehensive guide that will accompany them throughout the five weeks. Within these pages, students will meticulously document their reptile's vital statistics, including weight, length, and any notable observations regarding behaviour and health.
In addition to caring for their assigned reptile, students will embark on the exciting task of designing and setting up an enclosure tailored to the specific needs of their reptilian charge. This hands-on experience will provide valuable insights into creating habitats that promote the well-being and natural behaviours of our scaly inhabitants.
Throughout the term, students will delve into the intricacies of hibernation and brumation, gaining a profound understanding of how reptiles navigate these physiological processes. The exploration will extend to the fascinating world of invertebrates, where students will unravel the mysteries of spider webs, studying anatomy, behaviour, and habitats.
By the end of the term, students will not only be adept zookeepers but also knowledgeable advocates for the welfare of animals. The Jungle Huts Next Home Ed 5-Week Term promises an immersive and educational journey into the captivating realm of Zoology, fostering a deep connection with the diverse and wonderful creatures that share our planet.
