March Home Education Term

Scales, Skin & Exoskeletons

A Special 2-Week Home Education Summer Adventure

Before we break up for the summer holidays, we're going back to the roots of what makes The Jungle Hut so special!

Join us for two weeks of incredible animal encounters, hands-on handling experiences, fascinating facts, storytelling and plenty of Jungle Hut fun. There are no worksheets, no projects to complete and no group presentations – just a chance to get up close to some of our amazing reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

Meet giant tortoises, snakes, geckos, frogs, tarantulas, stick insects, millipedes and more as we celebrate the wonderful world of scales, skin and exoskeletons.

As part of the adventure, each Home Education session will vote for their favourite animal of the day. The winning animals from across the term will then go head-to-head in our online Summer Final, where children and families can vote to crown:

🏆 The Jungle Hut Animal of the Summer 2026 🏆

The winning animal will receive a special award displayed on their enclosure throughout the summer holidays for all visitors to see!

If your child loves animals, wildlife and hands-on learning, this is the perfect way to finish the term before the six-week summer break.

Session Information

Our home education sessions are education-focused and carefully structured, with learning at the heart of every workshop. Each session includes planned educational activities, discussion, and creative tasks designed to support curiosity, understanding, and confidence.

Alongside this, we believe hands-on experiences are essential. Every session includes the opportunity for children to meet and handle some of our animal ambassadors, such as snakes, lizards, amphibians, and invertebrates, always under the close supervision of our experienced Jungle Hut team.

Please note that we do not provide food or drinks during regular sessions. We recommend that children bring their own drinking bottle.

During the session there is other lovely places to visit just walking distance from the jungle hut..

The Earlswood Lakes: Enjoy this 6.8-km circular trail just over from The Jungle Hut. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 46 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, fishing, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.

The Red Lion Pub: Traditional inn offering a relaxed atmosphere for classic pub fare, cask ales and wines, plus fires. A DOG FRIENDLY PUB.
